Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 in 1961) was an American actress. Since the late 80s, Angela Evelyn has worked on film and television. The actress has won several awards, among them the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born and grew up within New York New York. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father when she was around five. Her younger sister then relocated to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was a fan of James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play while she was still in highschool and realized that it was acting she was looking to pursue. Yale University New Haven Connecticut awarded her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and a graduate degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she got married to Courtney B. Vance who was also an actor. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in the year 1980. Masters in Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama School.
